Role: Technical Support - Infrastructure
Location: Birmingham (SCC operate hybrid working, which comprises of a mix of office and home working)
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary Package: £35-45,000 (DOE) plus Car/Allowance, plus large company benefits, a broad flexible benefits scheme, and 2 paid-for volunteering days a year
Hours: 9.00 am – 5.30 pm Monday – Friday, plus On Call Rota, We also offer the opportunity to benefit from a Core Hours arrangement (role-specific), providing flexibility around your personal needs

Role purpose:
The key objective of the role is the administration of the Virtualised and Citrix estates in an efficient and timely manner such that SLA targets are met and customers are satisfied. The Virtualisation Engineer will work within a team ensuring relationships with internal and external support teams to ensure impact to the customers’ business is minimal.
Key responsibilities:
- Monitoring and maintaining computer systems to agreed service levels
- Managing incidents and problems appropriately within agreed service levels
- Creating and performing authorised changes to customer environments, attending CABs where necessary
- Perform root cause analysis on reoccurring incidents
- Assist engagement with projects to ensure design of technical solutions are in line with the requirements of the customer
- Act as a technical escalation point for major incidents related to the service delivery from the datacentre and customer sites
- Ensure technical documentation is completed and updated to professional standards
- Scheduled patching of Virtualised and Citrix environments as necessary
- Assist with acceptance into service into operational support for all new implementations and enhancements/upgrades
- Log calls with third-party vendors (such as VMware, Microsoft or Citrix) and escalate when necessary
Skills and experience:
- Strong background with core network, compute and storage technologies in large-scale deployments
- Experience of providing support to enterprise-level clients
- Ability to troubleshoot complex, technical, multi-site and multi-disciplinary problems and incidents
- Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
- Working knowledge of Windows Server 2012 up to the latest release -
- Skills including Active Directory, DHCP, DNS ADDS, ADCS
- Working knowledge of external DNS, Domain renewals, SPF
- Knowledge of HPE OneView
- Knowledge of server hardware, primarily HP & Dell
- Knowledge of Microsoft Azure & O365 service, AAD
- Working knowledge of Anti Virus such as Trelix, Sophos
- Working knowledge of network/cloud proxies
- Experience of working with web content filtering such as Zscaler, Force point
- Working knowledge of Service Now
- Knowledge of ITIL & Change management
