Location: Birmingham (SCC operate hybrid working, which comprises of a mix of office and home working)

Role purpose:
The Business Analyst is responsible for eliciting, analysing, and documenting business requirements and ensuring they are translated into clear, actionable user stories for development teams. Operating within a Scrum framework, the BA collaborates with Product Owners, Developers, Testers, and other stakeholders to ensure that solutions meet business objectives and deliver value. The role involves breaking down complex requirements, prioritising backlog items, and supporting the team throughout the sprint lifecycle.
Key responsibilities:
- Work with stakeholders to gather and analyse business requirements.
- Break down high-level requirements into detailed user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Maintain and refine the product backlog in collaboration with the Product Owner.
- Facilitate workshops and discussions to clarify requirements and priorities.
- Ensure requirements are aligned with business objectives and deliver measurable value.
- Support the Scrum team during sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Document processes, workflows, and business rules clearly and concisely.
- Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams.
- Identify gaps, risks, and dependencies in requirements and propose solutions.
- Continuously improve analysis practices and contribute to Agile maturity within the team.
Skills and experience:
- Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience working in Scrum teams.
- Excellent skills in requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation.
- Ability to create clear and concise user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills for engaging stakeholders.
- Proficiency in tools such as Jira, Confluence, or equivalent for backlog management.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
