Role purpose:
Plays a critical role in ensuring stability, security and efficiency of our Linux based end user systems. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate professional to manage and evolve our end user compute estate across multiple domains, ensuring our standard operating builds meet the highest benchmarks for compliance, performance and business needs.

Key responsibilities:
- Follows established protocols to identify, register, and categorise incidents
- Prioritises and categorises incidents based on severity and impact
- Gathers incident details for swift resolution and assigns incidents to the right support teams
- Ensures accurate data collection and analysis for trend identification
- Facilitates collaboration among different teams for efficient incident resolution
- Monitors incident status, provides updates, and generates reports for process improvement
- Maintains thorough documentation and contributes to knowledge bases
- Conducts post-incident analysis to prevent recurrence and implements corrective actions
Skills and experience:
- Good understanding of the Linux operating system, primarily RedHat for managing, troubleshooting and optimising performance.
- Knowledge of scripting (bash, python) for automation tasks and a good understanding of Ansible to automate deployment and configuration tasks.
- Logical troubleshooting skills to evaluate complex problems and devise effective solutions.
- Excellent customer service, teamwork and stakeholder management skills.
- Good understanding of monitoring and logging tools to ensure continuity of service.
- Desirable experience working with Virtualisation (VMWare) and storage (NetApp) technologies.
- Knowledge of containerisation platforms (Docker, kubernetes) would be an advantage
- Ability to pass UK Security Clearances
