Role: Senior Legal Counsel
Location: Birmingham (SCC operate hybrid working, which comprises of a mix of office and home working)
Contract Type: Permanent, full time
Salary Package: £65,000 to £75,000, Company Car/Car Allowance plus large company benefits, a broad flexible benefits scheme, and 2 paid-for volunteering days a year
Hours: 9.00 am – 5.30 pm Monday – Friday. We also offer the opportunity to benefit from a Core Hours arrangement (role-specific), providing flexibility around your personal needs

Role purpose:
We are now seeking an experienced senior legal counsel to join a small and dynamic legal team based in Birmingham. Reporting to the Head of Legal, this role has the scope to make a real impact within the business as we continue to grow organically and through strategic acquisitions.
We’re particularly interested in lawyers with significant experience in commercial contracts, (particularly managed service and outsourcing contracts), product sale and resale/distribution arrangements, SaaS, cloud services, cyber security and data.
Security Clearance (or the willingness to complete) is required for this role
Key responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts for commercial transactions, including general customer contracts, MSAs, consultancy arrangements, supplier terms and conditions & non-disclosure agreements
- Develop and maintain standard SCC template contracts for improved business efficiency and to reflect dynamic changes in solution portfolios and methods of doing business.
- Join customer calls to answer questions about our legal and commercial risk profile, our product and service offerings, and our operational policies and practices.
- Assist in various legal or cross-organisational activities or projects and liaise with the other functions in the company.
- Working independently in collaboration with expanding commercial and compliance teams on various deals under end of month, quarter, and year end pressures
Skills and experience:
- Qualified as a UK Lawyer
- Experience working with commercial contracts for customers and clients across various industries
- Good business vs risk acumen with the ability to thrive in a commercial orientated sales/customer first environment
- Exposure to working in house (by secondment or otherwise)
- Good Post Qualification commercial experience
- Training and qualification from a well-recognised commercial law firm and/or in-house team is desirable.
