Role: Cost Modeller/Cost Analysis
Location: Birmingham (SCC operate hybrid working, which comprises of a mix of office and home working)
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary Package: £35,000 to £40,000 plus large company benefits, a broad flexible benefits scheme, and 2 paid-for volunteering days a year
Hours: 9.00 am – 5.30 pm, Monday – Friday. We also offer the opportunity to benefit from a Core Hours arrangement (role-specific), providing flexibility around your personal needs

Role purpose:
This Cost Analyst role focuses on supporting the business by providing crucial financial analysis, cost estimation, and strategic insights to drive informed decision-making and enhance overall business profitability. Your expertise will be pivotal in providing accurate and insightful cost projections for complex projects and programs, contributing directly to strategic decision-making.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain sophisticated cost models to support decision-making processes and strategic initiatives
- Collaborate with Business Development Executive and Sales Teams to provide timely and accurate cost insights during the pre-sales phase
- Develop detailed and comprehensive commercial models to evaluate the financial viability of potential contracts and services
- Conduct cost estimation for proposed services, considering various factors such as labour, materials, overhead, and other relevant expenses.
- Identify and evaluate potential risks associated with cost elements, offering recommendations to mitigate financial risks and enhance profitability
- Research and analyse competitor pricing strategies to ensure the company remains competitive while maintaining profitability
- Ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial data used in cost analysis, working closely with relevant departments to gather and verify information
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for cost optimisation and efficiency improvements within contracted services
- Prepare and present clear, concise, and data-driven reports to key stakeholders, facilitating informed decision-making.
Skills and experience:
- Demonstrate strong analytical capabilities with the ability to evaluate complex financial data, identify trends, and provide insightful recommendations for cost optimization
- Exhibit a keen attention to detail in the preparation of commercial models, ensuring accuracy and precision in cost estimations and financial analyses. Experience in cost modelling, financial analysis, or a similar role
- Work effectively within cross-functional teams, collaborating with Business Development Executives and Sales Teams to provide valuable pre and post-sales support
- Possess excellent communication skills to articulate complex financial concepts in a clear and concise manner, facilitating effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Thrive in a dynamic business environment, adapting to changing priorities and deadlines while maintaining a focus on delivering high-quality, timely financial analyses
